As I go through my third year at Duke Ellington School of the Arts, I am looked up to by the underclassmen, I work with people more, I'm better known and respected by my teachers and peers, and I move through my school more comfortably. I have had a great time studying and staying late and rehearsing, and the year's only just begun. I am soon to see and do so much more.
I also face more advanced issues and I bear greater responsibility. For example, these past 2 years I have been only a participant in March for the Arts. This year I am one of the organizers. I am expected to stay later and work with the younger students and do the work of my teachers. I absolutely love it. I go to an incredible and proud school with great and professional professors, facilities, and productions and now, more than ever, I am an integral part of this system.
That's why we need you. despite our reputation and beautiful building we don't have nearly as much money as we need to continue the performance of our institution. One of the ways we make do is with fundraisers like this! Also, due to the probable DCPS takeover of our school, the future of our excellent program is unknown. This may be one of, if not, our last March for the Arts. All donations are greatly appreciated.
